If the child sits or kneels on the footplate, the child can use the side panels and wheel lock levers
as a grip or support when getting into the seat (Figure 9). If entering from the front, the child must
turn around in the seat. In this case, the child can use the push handles for support (Figure 10).
The wheel locks may not be released until the child is fully seated in the wheelchair!
Reverse steps should be followed for getting out of the chair.
For adolescents of a certain age, weight and physical constitution, it may be more appropriate
to get in and out of the wheelchair via the side panels.
To do this, manoeuvre the wheelchair at a 45° angle to the furniture or wheelchair from which
the user will be transferred (Figure 11). Activate the wheel locks. The seat/backrest, push rings
and side panels can be used for support while getting into and out of the wheelchair (Figure 12).
