Step 1. Following the same procedure used to hinge the
Ailerons. Trial fit the rudder in position on the vertical stabilizer
with the hinges in place. Note that four hinges attach the rudder
to the vertical stabilizer.
Step 2. Assemble the tail wheel assembly per the instructions
provided.
Note: We use the Sullivan tail wheel assembly for the
80" CAP 232 and all photos will reflect that choice. You are
free to use whatever tail wheel assembly you feel will be
useable on the CAP.
Step 3. Hold the tail wheel assembly up to the fuselage in a
position where it's flush with the fuselage bottom. Note where the
mounting bracket rests in reference to the rudder. Use a felt-
tipped pen or pencil to mark the position where the holes for the
mounting screws are to be drilled into the bottom of the fuse-
lage. Also mark the position of the attachment for the spring to
the rudder/tail wheel assembly will be located on the bottom of
the rudder.
Step 4. Mount the tail wheel assembly to the fuselage by sub-
stituting self-tapping screws to mount the tail wheel assembly to
the fuselage and attach the spring to the rudder. Try moving the
rudder back and forth to make sure there is no binding of move-
ment of the rudder.
Step 5. With the rudder aligned (up and down and along trim
lines), apply thin CA glue to the rudder hinges. Wipe away any
excess CA with CA debonder and a paper towel.
