The principle of MAMBO2-B6 operation
What is required to integrate your MAMBO2-B6 in your application.
MAMBO2-B6 Unit(s)
A valid SIM card for Voice and/or DATA and GPRS
GPRS settings (provided by your operator)
Remote Server (for receiving TCP packets sent by the MAMBO2-B6 – e.g. Trace4You from
FALCOM)
TCP settings (IP-address and socket to which the MAMBO2-B6 should connect)
Device configuration - which should locally be done by the system integrator or developer
Client computer with the Internet connection and an installed Web browser for accessing
server services
The illustration below represents which interfaces the MAMBO2-B6 uses to get connected with your
Remote Server. Moreover, it shows the kind of services to track and control the device remotely.
Figure 8:
The principle of system operation is very simple. MAMBO2-B6 contains a GPS receiver to receive the
GPS signals from the GPS satellites and a GSM/GPRS modem to transmit this information to a central
computer either via SMS or via GPRS in form of IP packets. The integrated GPS receiver uses the GPS
satellites data to calculate its exact position. The more GPS satellites signals received, the more precise
the position can be determined. The best possible reception can be archived when operating this device
in an open area. Tall buildings, parking garages, inside buildings, tunnels as well as, dense forest can
dramatically reduce quality of the GPS signal reception and/or completely block GPS signal reception.
The data received from GPS satellites can be either stored inside the device at regular intervals or
transmitted via SMS to a SMS server or in form of IP packets via GPRS
FALCOM Trace4You server). This allows MAMBO2's location to be displayed either in real time or for
later analysing. The FALCOM Workbench software helps you configure, test and debug your MAMBO2-
B6 locally while the Trace4You server helps you remotely monitor and view the location of the
MAMBO2-B6 in real-time.
