7. Install the new O-ring D and pump hous-
ing assembly E into the lower case,
tighten the bolts F, and then install the
seal G and cover H.
NOTE:
• When installing the pump housing, apply
grease to the inside of the housing, and
then turn the drive shaft clockwise while
pushing down the pump housing.
• Align the cover projection d with the hole
e in the pump housing.

Installing the lower unit

1. Set the gear shift to the neutral position
at the lower unit.
2. Align the center of the set pin a with the
alignment mark b on the bottom cowl-
ing.

3. Install the two dowels 1 into the lower
unit.
4. Install the lower unit into the upper case,
and then tighten the lower case mounting
bolts 2 to the specified torque.
5. Install the trim tab 3 to its original posi-
tion, and then tighten the trim tab bolt 4
to the specified torque.
È X-transom model
Lower case mounting bolt 2:
47 N·m (4.7 kgf·m, 34.7 ft·lb)
Trim tab bolt 4:
42 N·m (4.2 kgf·m, 31.0 ft·lb)
