airbags*

The airbag system can be used only
once
After an
accident,
have the airbag system and
the entire restraining system checked.
After the
triggering of the
system,
it is there-
fore necessary
to
replace:
o
the airbag steering wheel
o
the
passenger
airbag
o
the electronic
control
unit
o
the seat
belt
pre-tensioners
and
to
have the
entire system
checked
by your PEUGEOT
dealer.
As a safety
measure,
have the airbag
system
checked if the vehicle has been the
object
of
a
theft
or
attempted
theft.
Working
on
the
airbag
system or the
steer-
ing
wheel
is strictly
prohibited
except
for
qual-
ified PEUGEOT
dealers.
Monitoring
of operation
This is by
an
indicator
light
situated
on the
instrument
panel
which
comes
on
when
the ignition
is
switched
on. This indicator
switches
off 6
seconds after switching on
the ignition.
Warning,
if the indicator:
-
does not
light
up
on
switching on the
igni-
tion
or
-
does
not
go out after 6 seconds or
- flashes
for
5 minutes
then
stays
on,
consult
your PEUGEOT dealer.
The
system
has been
designed
to be fully
operational
for ten
years from the date of
reg-
istration of
the vehicle. Have
it
replaced
at
the end of
this period.
This operation
must be carried
out by a
PEUGEOT
dealer
or by another
specialist
approved
by
Automobiles
PEUGEOT.

correctly
adjusted
seat
bell.

Adopt
a
normal
vertical
sitting
posi-
lion.

Do not drive holding
the steering
wheel
by its
spokes or
resting
your
hands
on
the centre pad.

Do not
leave
an
accessory
or object
on
the
fascia or between
the
occu-
pant and
the
airbag.
