Before using for the first time
If you cannot obtain information on your
water hardness level from your local
water authority, you can measure the
hardness yourself using the test strip
supplied:
^ Dip the strip in your drinking water for
approximately one second, then
shake off any excess water. The
result will be evident after about a
minute.
Set the water hardness according to
the values given in the chart below. The
programmed water hardness level can
be recognised by the flash frequency of
the indicator light k.

< 0.5 mmol/l
1 red square
> 0.7 mmol/l
2 red squares
> 1.3 mmol/l
3 red squares
> 2.5 mmol/l
4 red squares
> 3.8 mmol/l
The steam ironing system is set at the
factory to the highest water hardness
level (70 °dH - AU/NZ 12.6 mmol/l).
If this setting corresponds to the
hardness of your water, you do not
need to do anything more.

If the water hardness in your area is
different, set the appliance to the
appropriate level.
Where the water hardness fluctuates
e.g. between 1.4 - 3.1 mmol/l (8 - 17 °d
German scale), always programme the
appliance to the higher value (3.1
mmol/l in this example).
In the event of a fault, it will help the
service technician if you know the
hardness of your local water supply.
