NSPECTING THE PISTON NSPECTING THE PISTON
- Using a suitable instrument measure the piston diameter.
- Evaluate the piston-wrist pin fitting clearance.
Characteristic
Wrist pin housing: standard diameter
12+0,007+0,012
Wrist pin housing: standard tolerance
0,002-0,011 mm
- Measure the external diameter of the piston according to a
direction orthogonal to the pin axis.
- Carry out the measurement at the location shown in the
figure.
- To classify the cylinder-piston mating, check the appropria-
te table.

- Check the cylinder does not show signs of seizures. If it
does proceed by replacing it or performing a grinding ope-
ration befitting the available oversize pistons.
- Using an appropriate device, measure the internal cylinder
diameter in the directions shown in the figure.
- Check the mating surface with the head is free from wear
or deformations To classify the cylinder-piston mating, check
the appropriate table.
