Instruments, Features and Controls

Ignition Switch
The ignition key operates the ignition switch and parking lights. The ignition switch provides electrical power to the
ignition, the lighting system and all electrical switches and buttons. Before starting the engine, read the instructions
for starting the engine. See page 60.
Off Position
In the OFF position, all electrical circuits are inactive and
the ignition key can be removed. Turn the ignition switch to
Park
the OFF position and remove the ignition key when leaving
the motorcycle unattended.
On Position
On
In the ON position, all electrical circuits are energized and
the ignition key cannot be removed. The headlamp, taillight,
and instrument lights illuminate. The engine stop/run switch
must be in the RUN position to start the engine or activate
Off
the emergency flashers, turn signals and other electrical fea-
tures. See page 38.
Park Position (P)
In the PARK position, the taillight, indicator lights, and
license plate light illuminate. The emergency flashers can be
activated, and the ignition key can be removed. You must
push the ignition key into the switch while selecting the
PARK position.
