Setting a button to act as a sustain pedal
This is most useful if this button is then assigned to an external switch pedal.
Select 'Edit PB On Name'– screen reads
Use the Data Wheel to select a button and give the button a name in the usual way (eg:'Sustain On')

Press the [–– >] button twice – screen reads:
Use the Data Wheel to select 'Button On + Off'
Press the [–– >] button – screen reads:
