STEEL TRACKS

Tracks equipped with steel treads can be supplied
as an alternative to the normal all rubber type. The
steel thread version has the additional option of
being fitted with steel spikes.
To fit the spikes remove every second steel tread by
removal of the 3 x M8 Allen Head screws, and
replace with the steel spike treads using the screws
supplied and torque to 52 ft-lbs (70Nm).
If a machine is fitted with spikes the operator must
avoid driving the machine on any surfaces that
would suffer damage from the spikes such as
roads, parking lots, recreation areas, etc. unless the
machine has been fitted with rubber transport
blocks specifically designed to protect surfaces.

Transport Blocks

The rubber transport blocks have holes in them that
fit on the spikes. Secure them by pushing them onto
each set of accessible spikes before slowly driving
the machine forward so its weight forces them
tightly into place. Repeat the process until all the
spike
sets
are
fitted
transportation, a lever or large screwdriver will be
required to pry the blocks back off the spikes.
Never attempt to operate the TRAXX RF with metal cleats or spiked track on concrete
hillsides or hard hillside surfaces. Operation of the spiked or cleated track on concrete or
hard surface hillsides could result in sudden and violent loss of traction and control of the
machine and may result in serious injury or death. The TRAXX RF should only be operated
on concrete or hard surface hillsides with the optional rubber track system installed.
