7.14 Track Tension Adjustment

1.
Shut the machine down as
described in section 5.13, locate
jam nut on track tension device
and clean the threads thoroughly
before proceeding. (fig. 7.14-1).
2.
Using a wrench, loosen the jam
nut (item 1) on the track tension
device. (fig. 7.14-1)
3.
Once the jam nut is loose,
turn the tensioner until the
track tension is within
specification (figure 7.14-2).
4.
Turn the tensioner the opposite
direction to loosen the track.
5.
Once proper tension is achieved,
retighten the jam nut on the tensioner.
Note: If the track tensioner is stiff, it may be helpful to apply a penetrating lubri-
cant onto the threads prior to adjusting tension.

7.15 Planetary Oil Change

1.
Place the machine on jackstands as
described in section 6.4, orient the
perimeter drain plug at the very bottom
of the drive motor, then turn the engine
off and remove the key to avoid
accidental start.
2.
Remove the plug and drain the oil into a suitable catch container. Dispose
according to mandates (fig 7.15-1).
3.
Start the machine (make sure all personnel are clear of the machine), then
roll the drive motor over so that the drain/fill hole is on the very top of the
drive motor. Stop the engine and remove the key to avoid accidental start.
4.
Fill the planetary with .95qt (.9l) of 75-140 synthetic gear oil, reinstall plug.
5.
Repeat the procedure on the opposite drive motor.
