Saving Data on the Hard Disk (Save in Mailbox of Im-
age Controller)

Save in Mailbox

The Save in Mailbox operation can be used to save document data on the
hard disk of the image controller. The saved data can be imported from a
computer.

Types of Mailboxes

17 mailboxes can be added to the default "admin", "operator" and "guest"
mailboxes.
If "Enable Mailbox Password" from the setup screen of the image controller
is set to "No", a password is not required to access the "admin", "operator",
"guest" boxes and other added boxes.
- Default mailboxes
As a default, three mailboxes ("admin", "operator", and "guest") have
been created. The image controller administrator password is required to
access the "admin" mailbox. However, the "operator" and "guest" mail-
boxes do not require a password for access.
- Added mailboxes
Mailboxes can be added by the user. Personal mailboxes can be protect-
ed with a password. If a password has been specified, access to the
mailbox is permitted only if the correct password is entered.

Precautions for the Save in Mailbox Operation

Before scanning with the Save in Mailbox operation, a destination mailbox
must be created on the hard disk of the image controller.
For details on the flow for the setup operation, refer to "Flow Chart of Setup
and Scanning Operations" on page 1-13. For details on specifying advanced
settings, refer to "Specifying Settings for Save in Mailbox of Image Controller
Operations" on page 5-7.
