10.3.3 Cordless handset
Problem
The cordless handset does
not work.
The cordless handset does
not ring.
Static, sound cuts in/out,
fades. Interference from other
electrical units.
I cannot store an item in the
phonebook.
I cannot redial by pressing
{REDIAL}.
I charged the battery fully, but
68879 continues to flash, or
68889 are displayed.
I cannot receive documents
on the cordless handset.
The cordless handset display
is blank.
I cannot have a conversation
using the headset.
I cannot program items.
10.3.4 Fax – sending
Problem
I cannot send documents.
I cannot send a fax overseas.
Cause & Solution
L Make sure that the battery is installed correctly (page 14) and fully charge
it (page 16).
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 16).
L Unplug the base unit's power cord to reset. Plug in, and try again.
L The ringer volume is set to OFF. Adjust it (page 18).
L Move the cordless handset and the base unit away from other electrical
appliances.
L Move closer to the base unit.
L Raise the base unit antennas.
L Turn ON the clarity booster feature (page 22).
L You cannot store an item in the phonebook while the cordless handset is in
talk, speakerphone or intercom mode, or while listening to messages.
L Do not pause for over 1 minute while storing.
L If the last number dialed was more than 48 digits long, the number will not
be redialed correctly. Redial the number manually.
L The last number dialed may have been a remote function.
L Clean the charge contacts and charge again (page 16).
L The battery may need to be replaced (page 14). If you install a new battery,
fully charge it (page 16).
L The memory is full of received documents due to a lack of recording paper,
a lack of ink film or a recording paper jam. Install paper (page 13), install ink
film (page 11) or remove the jammed paper (page 65).
L Fully charge the battery (page 16).
L Remove the battery for 30 seconds and replace it again.
L Make sure that the optional headset is connected properly (page 14).
L If "SP-phone" is displayed on the cordless handset, press {TALK} to
switch to the headset.
L While another user is listening to messages or the telephone answering
machine is answering a call, you cannot program. Try again later.
Cause & Solution
L The other party's fax machine is busy or has run out of recording paper. Try
again.
L The other party's machine is not a fax machine. Check with the other party.
L The other party's fax machine failed to answer the fax automatically. Send
the fax manually (page 32).
L The memory is full of received documents and the quick scan (feature #34
on page 50) is ON. Turn this feature OFF, and send the fax again.
L Use the overseas transmission mode (feature #23 on page 49).
L Add 2 pauses at the end of the telephone number or dial manually.
