Cause & Solution
L FAX ONLY mode is set. Tell the other party the number is only used for
faxes.
L Change the receiving mode to TEL mode (page 36) or TAM/FAX mode
(page 37).
L If you use a Distinctive Ring service, make sure you have set the same ring
pattern assigned by the telephone company (page 39).
L If this button is pressed during dialing, a pause will be inserted. If pressed
immediately after a dial tone is obtained, the last number dialed will be
redialed.
L Distinctive Ring is set (feature #31 on page 49).
L All or part of the number is the same as another code or ID. Change the
number:
– remote operation ID (code): feature #11 or feature 063 on page 48.
– fax activation code: feature #41 on page 51.
L Even if there are only a few sentences, every page that comes out of the
machine is considered a full page.
L Turn OFF the following features:
– Confirmation report: feature #04 on page 47.
– Journal report: feature #22 on page 49.
– Callers list: feature #26 on page 49.
L The memory reception alert of feature #44 is ON (page 51), and the unit has
a document in memory. Press {STOP} to stop the beeps, then see the
displayed message instructions to solve the problem.
L You are probably entering {*}{#}{9}. This is the default setting for the fax
activation code. If you use a voice mail service, turn the fax activation
feature OFF or reprogram the activation code (feature #41 on page 51).
L Use the speakerphone in a quiet room.
L If you have difficulty hearing the other party, adjust the volume.
L The cordless handset is too far from the base unit.
L You need to subscribe to a Call Display service.
L Other telephone equipment may be interfering with your phone. Disconnect
it and try again.
L Other electrical appliances connected to the same outlet may be interfering
with the Call Display information.
L Telephone line noise may be affecting the Call Display information.
L The caller requested not to send his/her information (page 27).
L If a call is being transferred to you, the caller information will not be
displayed.
L Do not pause for over 1 minute on the cordless handset or 3 minutes on the
base unit while viewing.
