Changing the STC operating range (STC MODE)

Gain can be adjusted by changing the STC operating range. Either 50
m, 100 m, 150 m, or 200 m is available as the operating range. Usually,
select 50 m. Selection of 200 m enhances the identifiability of the fish in
deep layers. Selection of a shorter range enhances the identifiability of
the fish in shallow layers.
Change the STC operating range this way:
Display the FISH FINDER SETTING menu by pressing the

Move control to "STC MODE" by pressing the

Use the [STC] control (semi-fixed type) on the operations panel to
adjust the STC level. See page 14
Use "SHORT STC" to adjust the video gain obtained immediately
after transmission. See page 55 for further details. Outline of the
procedure: Proceed from the FISH FINDER SETTING menu to
"INITIAL SETTING", "CALIBRATION", and "SHORT STC", in that
order.

Enhancing small echo (SIGNAL PROCESS)

If the received signal reflections are too weak to confirm, enhance their
level in a vertical direction on the screen by selecting the SIGNAL
PROCESS function of the FISH FINDER SETTING menu.
Three settings are provided for SIGNAL PROCESS: "OFF", "1", and "2".
The setting of "1" provides weak enhancement, and "2" provides strong
enhancement.
Selection of "OFF" deactivates the SIGNAL PROCESS function ("OFF"
is the default).
The enhancement procedure is as follows:
Display the FISH FINDER SETTING menu by pressing the
