Glossary
American National Standards Institute. A standards-setting,
non-government organization which develops and publishes standards
for "voluntary" use in the United States
The packet switched network that was originally designed for data traffic
(non-speech).
Digital signal processor (a reduced instruction set processor designed to
perform voice compression more efficiently than a general use
processor like Pentium).
A protocol for automatic TCP/IP configuration that provides static and
dynamic address allocation and management.
A system designed to prevent unauthorized Internet users from
accessing private networks connected to the Internet, especially
intranets.
