IGNITION TIMING CHECK

IGNITION TIMING CHECK
NOTE:
Engine idling speed and throttle cable free
play should be adjusted properly before
checking the ignition timing.
1.Place the machine on a level place.
2.Start the engine and let it warm up for
several minutes, then stop the engine.
3.Attach:
Inductive tachometer
Timing light
to spark plug lead.
Inductive tachometer:
P/N. YU-08036-A, 90890-03113
Timing light:
P/N. YM-33277-A, 90890-03141
4.Check:
Ignition timing

Checking steps:
Remove the timing plug 1.
Start the engine and let it idle at the speci-
fied idle speed.
Idle speed:
1,400 ~ 1,500 r/min
CAUTION:
Under extreme conditions, the oil may
spurt out when running the engine. There-
fore care should be used when running.
Visually check the stationary pointer 2 on
the crankcase cover to verify it is within
the firing range 3 indicated on the fly-
wheel.
Incorrect → Check flywheel and/or pulser
coil assembly (tightness and/or damage).
Refer to "CHAPTER 8. ELECTRICAL" sec-
tion further incoformation.
NOTE:
Ignition timing is not adjustable.
