switching modes:
1. Configuration: Backup #1 INDEPENDENT and Backup #2 INDEPENDENT
2. Configuration: Backup #1 INDEPENDENT and Backup #2 DEPENDENT
3. Configuration: Backup #1 DEPENDENT and Backup #2 INDEPENDENT
