The left side of the system unit has the following devices and controls (see the
previous figure for device and control locations).

PC Card Slots 1 and 2 — supports use of 16-bit Type II cards and 32-bit
Type II PC cards using CardBus technology.

CPU fan — cools the Pentium III processor.
!
Microphone in jack — used to connect a microphone for recording audio
information in data files.
!
Line in jack — used to connect a stereo audio device.
!
Headphone jack — used to connect an optional headphone. Plugging in
the headphone disables the built-in speakers.
!
Volume control — adjusts the volume of the two speakers built into the
LCD panel or adjust the volume of an optional headphone.

Right Side Features

The following figure shows the location of the hard drive panel on the right side
of the system unit. The hard drive is under the panel. A brief description of the
hard drive follows the figure.
The system's hard drive is behind the hard drive panel on the right side of the
system unit. The hard drive can be removed for replacement or upgrading (see
Section 3, "Disassembly and Reassembly" for removal procedures).
