Install a new lock nut and tighten it.

Stake the lock nut into the case groove.
Apply grease to a new oil seal lips and install it into
the gear case until it is fully seated.
TOOL:
Driver attachment
RING GEAR CLEARANCE
INSPECTION
Install the ring gear with the shim into the case
cover.
Measure the clearance between the ring gear and
stop pin with a feeler gauge.
CLEARANCE:
16-14
