Water System
Pure Source Ultra Water Filters
Locating the Filters
The water fi lter system fi lters all dispensed drinking
water, as well as the water used to produce ice. The
water fi lter is located at the top right side of the fresh
food compartment (See Figure 5-3)
In general, the water fi lter needs to be replaced every
six months to ensure the highest possible water quality.
"Water Filter Status" on the user interface prompts you
to replace the fi lter after a standard amount of water
(200 gallons/757 liters for Pure Source Ultra ) has fl owed
through the system. If your refrigerator has not been
used for a period of time (during moving for example),
change the fi lter before reinstalling the refrigerator.
To replace your PureSource Ultra water fi lter:
It is not necessary to turn the water supply off to change
the fi lter. Small amounts of water may be released during
fi lter replacement.
1 Turn Off the ice maker power switch.
2 Remove the fi lter by pushing on the end/face of the
fi lter (See Figure 5-3).
3 Slide the old water fi lter cartridge straight out of the
housing and discard it.
4 Unpack the new fi lter cartridge. Using the
alignment guide, slide it gently into the fi lter housing
until it stops against the snap-in connector at the
back of the housing.
5 Push fi rmly until the cartridge snaps into place (you
should hear a click as the cartridge engages the
snap-in connector).
6 Press a drinking glass against the water dispenser
while checking for any leaks at the fi lter housing.
Any spurts and sputters that occur as the system
purges air out of the dispenser system are normal.
7 After fi lling one glass of water, continue fl ushing the
system for about four minutes.
8 Turn On the ice maker.
9 Press and hold the Water Filter button on the Ice
& Water Dispenser control panel for three seconds.
When the display changes from Red to Green, the
status has been reset.
The condition of the water filter has a significant effect on
the operation of the ice maker. When the filter slows down
flow to the door, it is also slowing down flow the ice maker.
This can result in reduced number of ice cubes made per
cycle as well as decreased size of cubes.

Water Tank

The dispenser models of french door bottom freezer refrig-
erators have a roll tube tank assembly behind the lower deli
pan on the left side of the fresh food compartment. It is
shielded under a protective cover. The water line from the
primary water valve is routed to the water filter. The water
from the water filter goes to the water tank, then to the sec-
ondary water valve (three coil valve). The three coil valve
dispenses water to the ice makers and to the dispenser in
the door. See next page for water system flow diagrams.
Non-dispensing models do not have a water tank.
