Dirty Printhead Components

The print problems described in the following section are caused by dirty
printhead components.
Streakers
Streakers appear on test patterns as solid black lines.
Streakers appear on test prints as horizontal bands of ink.
Streakers are usually caused by dirty printheads or improper voltage
settings. At high voltage settings, light streakers appear near the sixth
bar of a test pattern; low voltage settings cause more solid streakers.
To correct printing problems caused by streakers, perform the following
steps:
1. Perform the printhead cleaning procedure described in Chapter 4.
2. If the problem persists, repeat the printhead cleaning procedure.
3. If the problem still persists, clean the printhead bottom cover as
described in Chapter 4.
4. Perform steps 2, 3, and 4 from the voltage defect procedure
described in the previous section.
5. If the problem persists, repeat the printhead cleaning procedure.
