6. If the problem still persists, repeat the printhead cleaning procedure.
7. When all other corrective actions fail, perform the printhead swabbing
procedure described in Chapter 4.
Interference
Interference appears on a test pattern as a ragged line of print or
scattered dots.
Interference appears on test prints as a solid, horizontal line of
missing print.
This printing problem indicates interference with the flight of drops (also
known as drop interference). This condition is the most common print
problem and is usually caused by particles of dust adhering to the
printhead bottom cover. Drop interference can also be caused by dust on
the eyelid or inside the printhead assembly.
To correct a printing problem caused by interference, perform the
following steps:
1. Clean the printhead bottom cover and the eyelid (See Chapter 4).
2. Clean the catcher bottom plate (See Chapter 4).
3. If the problem improves or has moved, clean the catcher bottom plate
again.
4. Perform the printhead cleaning procedure described in Chapter 4.
5. If the problem persists, perform the phase defect procedure. See
"Phase Defects" on page 3-5.
