Swabbing the Printhead
This section describes the procedure used to swab the printhead. This
procedure should only be performed under advisement from K
V
service personnel and only after all other corrective actions
ERSAMARK
have proven unsuccessful in correcting the problem.
Caution: To prevent damage to the printhead and its printed circuit board
components, follow anti-static safety precautions and use the K
V
-supplied wrist grounding strap when handling the printhead
ERSAMARK
and circuit boards. Handle circuit boards only by edges free of
connectors.
1. Exit any system software program.
2. Turn the printer off by pressing [PRINTER ON]. ([PRINTER ON] goes
off, while [POWER] remains on.)
3. Remove the printhead bottom cover from the printhead housing
assembly.
4. Loosen the captive screw on the printhead front cover and remove
the cover.
5. Remove the eyelid assembly as described in the following procedure:
Caution: To avoid damaging the eyelid seal, handle the seal carefully when
removing the eyelid assembly.
a. Remove the hitch pin in the eyelid pivot shaft.
b. Remove the eyelid by pressing slightly at the front to relieve the
