Daily printer maintenance consists of cleaning the printhead bottom cover
and the printhead. Perform these two tasks every 8 hours of run time and
when the printhead bottom cover or printhead appears to be dirty. Both
tasks require less than 10 minutes to perform.

Cleaning the Printhead Bottom Cover

To clean the printhead bottom cover, perform the following procedure:
1. Turn off the printer by pressing [PRINTER ON].
2. Position the printhead so that the bottom cover is easily accessible;
insert an index finger into the slot on the bottom cover and carefully
pull the cover off. Figure 4.1 illustrates the printhead position used
when the printhead is not installed on a mount.
