You can also use the test print examples provided in this chapter to
determine the causes of printing problems by comparing the print quality
of the test prints to the print quality of your print data. Figure 3.2 provides
an example of a test print.

The maintenance procedures used to correct the printing problems are
described in Chapter 4. Other corrective actions are referenced as
required.
Perform the following procedure to print test patterns from the printer
operator panel:
1. Turn on the printer and the fluid system by pressing [PRINTER ON].
2. Open the eyelid by pressing [OPEN EYELID].
3. Press [TEST PRINT]. The [TEST PRINT] light comes on. The [DATA
READY] light comes on, indicating data is available for printing.
4. Start the document transport. The [TEST PRINT] light flashes,
indicating test patterns are printing. The [TACH] light flashes,
indicating tach pulses are being received. The [CUE] light flashes to
indicate cue signals are being received.
5. To stop printing, press [TEST PRINT] again; the [TEST PRINT] light
goes off.
Note: The host controller cannot communicate with the printer while test
patterns are being printed.
