Mechanical Trouble Shooting

Stock

Problem
Stock will not roll or jumps
Printer fails to stop at end
of roll.
Stock does not pull
smoothly through
printhead module.

Probable Cause
1) Incorrect adjustment of unwind
web guides
1) Stock roll is too tight in guides.
1) Web guide is too tight.
2) Stock is slipping in drive or drive
pressure is uneven.
Corrective Action
1) Be sure stock roll is as flat as possible and does
not extend over core.
2) Adjust unwind knob until back plate and front
post touch roll. Do not over-tighten. Roll must
rotate smoothly.
3) Adjust the web guide to the edge of stock. Do
not pinch web.

rotate smoothly.
1) Adjust turn-bar collars to same position as
unwind back plate and front post.
1) Be sure cam lift knob is closed. Be sure springs
are not improperly installed on bottom pins. Be
sure cam lift surfaces are not holding lift arms
up when knob is in the run position. Re-adjust
unwind and web guide to relieve possible stock
"pinch".
