Troubleshooting

Symptom
Motor will not start
Motor will not start: fuses
or circuit breakers blow.
Motor overheats.
Motor stalls resulting in
blown fuses or tripped
circuit.
Machine slows when
operating.
Loud, repetitious noise
coming from machine.
Blade is not square with
the miter slot or fence is
not square to the blade.
Fence hits the table top
when sliding on the table.
Blade does not reach 90
degrees.
Blade hits insert at 45
degrees.
Blade will not go beneath
table surface.
Hand wheels won't turn.
Possible Cause
Low voltage.
Open circuit in motor or loose
connection.
Short circuit in line cord or plug.
Short circuit in motor or loose
connections.
Incorrect fuses of circuit breakers in
power line.
Motor overloaded.
Air circulation through the motor
restricted.
Short circuit in motor or loose
connections.
Low voltage.
Incorrect fuses of circuit breakers in
power line.
Motor overloaded.
Applying too much pressure to
workpiece.
Belts loose.
Pulley setscrews or keys are missing
or loose.
Motor fan is hitting the cover.

Front rail is bolted too low to the table.
Rear rail is bolted too low on the table. Raise the rear rail.
90 degree stop bolt is out of

Hole in insert is inadequate.
Table out of alignment.
Blade position is incorrect.
Table top is too low.
Hand wheel key is inserted too far.
Bullets are wedged.
Roll pin or setscrew in worm gear is

Correction
Check power line for proper voltage.
Inspect all lead connections on motor for
loose or open connections.
Inspect cord or plug for damaged insulation
and shorted wires.
Inspect all connections on motor for loose or
shorted terminals or worn insulation.
Install correct fuses or circuit breakers.
Reduce load on motor.
Clean out motor to provide normal air
circulation.
Inspect connections on motor for loose or
shorted terminals or worn insulation.
Correct the low voltage conditions.
Install correct fuses or circuit breakers.
Reduce load on motor.
Feed workpiece slower.
Tighten belts.
Inspect keys and setscrews. Replace or
tighten if necessary.
Tighten fan or shim cover.
Replace V-belt.
Replace saw blade.
Adjust table parallel to the blade.
Adjust fence parallel to the blade.
Raise the front rail.
Adjust the 90 degree stop bolt.
File down the right side of the pointer
bracket until the blade can reach 90
degrees.
File or mill the hole in the insert.
Align the table.
Adjust the blade position.
Raise the table top with washers.
Remove the hand wheel and adjust the key.
Remove the hand wheel and adjust the
bullets.
Inspect the roll pins and setscrews in the
worm gear. Tighten if necessary.
