WEP security functions
Description
Specifies access policy. Optionally specifies key
databases for personal WEP keys. Format is:
set wep_mode mode database
where can take the following values:
mode
Allows same stations as
open
non-WEP stations via open
authentication (no key)
Allows same stations as
wep
plus those with valid shared WEP key.
Only allows authentication via
personal
personal WEP key.
It is advisable to set one active shared
WEP key, used when access point
sends broadcasts/multicast messages.
All wireless clients must have same
shared WEP key (plus personal WEP
key) to receive broadcasts. If no shared
WEP keys defined, broadcasts sent
unencrypted.
Special mode used with some non-
wifi
Nokia WiFi compatible systems.
Station may use open authentication
to associate with the access point
then switch to shared WEP key.
Personal WEP keys not supported.
Mode provided for compatibility with
other vendor equipment; not
generally recommended.
