Power Management

The power consumption of a BX900 S1 system unit depends on the number of PSUs which are equipped in the
system unit. It is important to distinguish here between the PSUs which can be seen in the Navigation Frame and
the number of PSUs which are actually activated (entry Available PSUs under Information / Operation → Operation
→ Power Management → Input Power Limit → PSU Controlling).
The example below is based on a system unit with three activated PSUs. In addition to the PSUs three fan units
are used (see figure).
Figure 40: Display of PSUs and fan units

Each fan unit can be substituted by an additional PSU. Each bay can be filled with a PSU or a fan unit to
ensure the cooling air flow for the system unit. If a PSU fails, the number of Available PSUs in the Power
Consumption Options box is decremented.
The actual power consumption of the system unit depends on the number and type of devices it is equipped with,
on the current operation conditions, and on the settings which can be made on the Information / Operation →
Operation → Power Management → Consumption page.
