Matching AS/400 parameters for 4680/4690 LINE parameter

You must coordinate parameters between the AS/400 and the 4680 or 4690 retail controller. The following
table lists those parameters. The 4680 controller requires configuration of the SDLC/SNA LINE parameter.
AS/400 parameters are listed in alphabetical order; the commands on which the parameters are specified
are included in the rightmost column of the table.
For more information about configuring the 4680, see the IBM 4680 Store System: Programming Guide.
To configure the AS/400 to a 4680/4690 controller:
v See "Examples: Connecting AS/400 to a 4690 retail controller" on page 75 for an example of an AS/400
connecting to a 4690 retail controller.
v Use the following table to connect an AS/400 to a 4690 retail controller.

Notes
Enabled at initial microprogram load (IML). There is no
equivalent parameter for the AS/400 system. Specify
to indicate that the controller is enabled at IML, or
indicate that the controller is not enabled at IML.
Specifies NRZI data encoding with leading pads ( ) or
non-NRZI without leading pads ( ).
Bit 2: Specify 1 is using nonswitched communications,
or 0 if using switched communications. If switched, the
SENDID parameter must also be specified.
Bit 3: Specify 1 if using a multipoint communications
protocol, or 0 if not. 01 is not a valid combination for
these bits.
Switched network backup.
Data rate select speed.
Data carrier setting.
Answer tone generation. There is no equivalent
parameter for the AS/400 system. Specify
that the controller generates the answer tone, or
indicate that the answer tone is omitted.
