Manual Transmission

Manual transmission lets you hear the dial tone, ringing and fax receiving tones before sending the
fax.

Insert the document face down in the feeder.

Pick up the handset and listen for a dial tone—OR—press Speaker Phone.

Enter the fax number you want to call.

When you hear the fax tone, press Start. If you're using the handset, hang up.
Resolution
When you have a document in the feeder, you can use the Resolution key. Press Resolution
continuously until you see your selection on the screen.

Standard:
suitable for most typed documents.
Fine:
good for small print; transmits a little slower than standard resolution.
Super Fine: good for small print or artwork; transmits slower than fine resolution.
Photo:
use when document has varying shades of grey; slow transmission time.

Multiple Resolution Transmission

Use this feature to select separate resolution settings for each page of the fax you're sending. This
could be useful if you're sending a fax with photos and letters, or some pages with small print and
others with normal print. Resolution settings return to STANDARD after the fax is sent.

Insert the documents face down in the feeder, then press Menu/Set, 3, 2.

to select resolution for page 1, and press Menu/Set.

Repeat Step 2 for subsequent pages. Press Stop when
you're finished. The screen displays:

Press 1 if you want to select additional settings. The
display returns to the Setup Send menu—OR—Press 2
if you are finished choosing settings, and go to Step 5.
The screen prompts you to enter the fax number you want to call.

Enter the fax number you're calling, and press Start.
If you want to copy a document using multiple resolutions, press Copy/Help
instead of Start in Step 5.
