Planning the Installation

Be sure to observe the following guidelines when planning the installation of
your switch.
q
The end-node connected to the 100Base-FX fiber optic port must be
able to operate at 100 Mbps.
q
The end-node connected to a 10/100Base-TX twisted pair port must be
able to operate at 10 or 100 Mbps.
q
The end-node connected to a port on the switch can be a network
adapter card, repeater, router, hub, or another switch.
q
Refer to Table 4 for the cabling specifications for the twisted pair
ports.
