Sound field and sound quality
You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these
sound field systems are used with some sources. If this
occurs, turn the sound field system off.
Advanced Surround
DVD-V DVD-VR
Enjoy a surround-like effect which broadens when
playing discs with surround effects. Sound seems to
come from speakers on either side of you.
Press [A.SRND] (main unit: press and hold
[–A.SURROUND]).
Every time you press the button:
1 Natural
2 Enhanced
Off (factory preset)
Optimum seating
position
• This does not work
or has less effect
with some discs.
• Do not use in
combination with
surround effects on
other equipment.
Sound field control
Press [SOUND] (main unit: [SOUND EQ]) to select a
setting.
Every time you press the button:
HEAVY: Adds punch to rock.
CLEAR: Clarifies higher sounds.
SOFT:
For background music.
DISCO: Reverberates sound to make you feel like
you are in a disco.
LIVE:
Makes vocals more alive.
HALL: Expands sound to make you feel like you are
in a hall.
EQ-OFF: Canceled (no effect is added) (factory
preset).

Create your own sound quality effects.

Press [SOUND] to select "MANUAL EQ".

[ ].
BASS ↔ MID ↔ TREBLE

Adjust the level with [ ] or [ ].
(–3 to +3)
Repeat step 2 to set the desired sound quality.
The original display is restored on the display panel in
about 3 seconds.
To cancel
Press [SOUND] to select "EQ-OFF".
The changes you make are stored and automatically

recalled the next time you select "MANUAL EQ".
Using the Super Sound Equalizer
Turning on the super sound equalizer gives you a more
powerful sound.
Press [S.SOUND EQ]
The "S.SOUND EQ" indicator lights up.
To cancel
Press [S.SOUND EQ] to turn off the indicator.
