Sound field and sound quality

• The following sound effects may not be available or have no effect depending on the type of source, or when headphones are
used.
• You may experience a reduction in sound quality when these sound field systems are used with some sources. If this occurs, turn
the sound field system off.

Changing the sound quality

 Preset EQ
Press [SOUND] to select a setting.
Every time you press [SOUND] on the remote control:
HEAVY
: Adds punch to rock.
CLEAR : Clarifies higher sounds.
SOFT : For background music.
EQ-OFF
: Canceled (no effect is added).
MANUAL EQ : ( see below).
To check the current setting
Press [SOUND].
 Manual EQ
Create your own sound quality effects.

Press [SOUND] to select "MANUAL EQ".

(Within 7 seconds or so)
Change the sound quality with the cursor buttons.
 Select the sound range to be adjusted with [w] or [q].
BASS MID
 Adjust the level with [u, 2/REW] or [i, 1/FF].
(–3 to +3)
Repeat step 2 to set the desired sound quality.
The original display is restored on the display panel in about 3
seconds.
To cancel
Press [SOUND] to select "EQ-OFF".
The changes you make are stored and automatically
recalled the next time you select "MANUAL EQ".

Using the Super Surround

Press [S.SRND].
Everytime you press the button:
MUSIC
: Adds surround effects to stereo sources.
MOVIE : Use this mode when playing movie software.
PARTY : Sound is in stereo regardless of the direction you
are facing.
Off
: Cancel (no effect is added)
Note
• This function is also available for USB mode.
• You can adjust the volume of the surround speakers to get
the best surround effect ( page 29).
• S.SRND does not work when playing a DVD recorded with
5.1 channel.
When S.SRND is on, Dolby Pro Logic II turns off.

Enhancing the bass

You can enhance low-frequency sound so that heavy bass
sound can be heard clearly, even if the acoustics of your room
are not optimal. The unit automatically selects the most suitable
setting according to the type of playback source.
Press [H.BASS] (main unit: [H.BASS]).
The "H.BASS" indicator lights up.
Everytime you press the button:
H. BASS ON  H. BASS OFF

Enhancing the surround sound

Automatically adjusts each speaker to enhance the surround
sound effect of 5.1-channel audio. When playing two-channel
audio, the audio of the L/R front speakers is also output through
the rest of the speakers creating a surround sound effect.
Press [SURROUND ENHANCER] (main unit: [SURROUND
ENHANCER]).
The "ENH" indicator lights up.
Everytime you press the button:
SURROUND ENHANCER ON  SURROUND ENHANCER OFF
