10.3 FACTORY SERVICE

In the unlikely event that the radio fails to perform or needs servicing, please
contact the following:

An "RA" Return Authorization number is not necessary to send a product in for
service. Include a brief note describing the problem along with your name,
return address, phone number, and proof of purchase.

10.4 TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

SYMPTOM
The [ SCAN ( DW )] key
does not start the scan.
The USA/INTL/CAN
modes do not function.
Press and holding the
[ SQL ] switch does not
eliminate background
noise.
Cannot change any
function.
Key Lock does not
function.
Cannot receive the DSC
call.
Cannot transmit the
DSC.
Can not fix the GPS
satellites.
Indicator does not light
when charging a battery.
HX850S
PROBABLE CAUSE
No channels memorized.
Squelch is not adjusted.
Proper operation not
followed.
Low battery.
Audio volume level is too low.
Key Lock is "on".
Proper operation not
followed.
Squelch is open.
DSC SCAN is "off".
MMSI number is not
programmed.
Internal GPS receiver is "off".
Poor location for GPS
satellite reception.
Defective battery FNB-V99LI.
REMEDY
Use the [ MEM ] key to enter desired
channels into the transceiver's
memory.
Press the [ SQL ] key and press the
[ ] key until the "
pears. Further adjustment of the
squelch control may eliminate in-
coming signals.
HOLD down the [ 16/9 ] key and
press the [ WX ] key.
Charge battery. Refer to section 4
of this manual.
Press the [ VOL ] key and press the
[ ] key several times.
Turn the Key Lock to "off". Refer to
[ H/L (
section 5,
Hold down the [ H/L (
seconds.
Press the [ SQL ] key and press the
[ ] key until the "
pears.
Turn the DSC SCAN to "on" in the
DSC Setup menu.
Program the MMSI number. Refer
to section 7.2.2 of this manual.
Internal GPS receiver is "on". Re-
fer to section 9.1 of this manual.
Move to a less obstructed position.
Contact your Standard Horizon
dealer.
