Flow Rates

Flow rates depend on the nature of the liquid
(viscosity), the capacity of the syringe, and the
internal diameter of tubing. For liquids transferred
via the probe, it is possible to adjust the aspirate
and dispense flow rates according to the nature of
the liquid (e.g. viscous liquids must be aspirated
slowly). The default value for 'Air flow rate' is 4
ml/min. Whatever the capacity of the syringe(s).
In Configuration
In the configuration menus, you can modify the air
flow rate and the flow rates of liquids coming from
the Reservoir (Prime flow rate and Reservoir aspirate
flow rate).
In Methods (Tasks)
In the Flow menu of each task, you can adjust the
flow rates of liquid aspirated via the probe. Maxi-
mum values (see tables) are given according to
syringe capacity and internal diameter of the
tubing. These maximum values have been opti-
mized without air gap. When using air gap, it is
recommended that you decrease these values.
Flow rates may be optimized using in-run prompts:
when you enter a question mark in the place of a
value (in task edit), that value has to be validated
before the run. Optimization of flow rates is
essential to assure maximum rapidity and volu-
metric precision. The default values used by the
software are shown in bold in the tables that
follows.
When using Titrate or Measure, you are advised to
halve the maximum values shown in the tables.
