ALLIGNING THE PRINT HEAD (EXCHANGING
HEADS)
When you install a new print head, it is advisable to
align the print head immediately afterwards.
Make sure that there is paper in the ASF and pro-
ceed as follows:
1.
Press the
key and press the "3" key on the
numeric keypad.

The machine will print a new test page headed
"Test: Bidirectional alignment".
If the alignment corresponding to the "x x " value
on the test page represents the ideal setting,
press the

The fax machine will print another test page, with

then return to the initial waiting mode automati-

PRECAUTIONS
Since you will have to change the print head at
fairly regular intervals that will vary depending on
how intensively the machine is used, the following
precautions should also be observed:
do not attempt to refill the print head: this could
damage the head itself or the machine.
take care not to get ink on yourself: these ink
stains are very difficult to remove.
The machine automatically recognises the type of
print head installed and checks the ink level us-
ing a specific internal counter so as to display the
"OUT OF INK" message when necessary.
To ensure that the ink level counted by the machine
coincides with the actual level in the print head,
never use print heads taken from other (fax or
printer) machines. When inserting a new print
head, you must indicate to the machine that the print
head you have inserted is new (see previous para-
graph).
CLEANING THE PRINT HEAD AND CHECK-
ING THE NOZZLES
If the printing quality deteriorates, you can clean
the print head and check the nozzles with a printout
showing their condition.
