Glue the instrument panel (part 317) to the cockpit. Once the boat has been painted, the instrument
decal is applied to the panel, followed by two engine-room telegraphs (part 318) and the tiller (part 319).
Prepare the spray guard window (part 320). NOTE: you will find these frames on the decal sheet: the
double-row frames represent the vertical frame connections between the individual windows, and also
serve to join the windows together, so there is no need to apply glue at these points.
Glue together the steps (part 321) which lead up to the monitor platform. These parts should only be
glued in place when the boat is otherwise finished.
Prepare the platform steps handrail (part 323), and glue it to the superstructure.
Drill a hole in the roof for the roof aerial (part 324) and glue it in the hole.
Assemble the parts of the loudhailer (part 325). Check that the funnel lies parallel to the waterline, and
glue the loudhailer in position.
Assemble the searchlights (part 326); note that the reflector housings should shine directly onto the fore-
castle deck.
Glue the whip aerial (part 327) in the aerial base (part 328). Drill a hole in the roof and glue the aerial in
it.
NOTE: the next step is the construction of the bar mast; if you wish to fit working lights, you will need to
take this into account at an early stage, as it will be impossible to deploy the wiring subsequently.
Cut out the half-shells of the bar mast components (part 329), sand them flat and glue them together
neatly.
Cut out the bar mast cross-piece (part 330), sand it flat, then glue the base plate (331) to the underside.
Trim the two bar mast parts to fit; these must be adjusted until the completed bar mast fits neatly on the
two bridge supports.
Glue the base plate for the lamp mast (part 332) to the cross-piece.
Glue the outer cover plate (part 333) to the right-hand bar mast, then glue the inner cover plate (part
334) on the inside. Glue the small cover plate over this, with the shoulder on the underside.
Glue together the searchlight box (part 335), then glue this component to the cross-piece. The search-
light is assembled from parts 295 to 298, as described for the other two searchlights.
Glue the forward lamp bearer (part 336) to the mast, with the brace (part 337) below it; repeat the
procedure with the rear lamp bearer (part 338) and brace (part 339).
Glue the brace (part 341) in the port lamp bearer (part 340), then drill a 3 mm Ø hole in the bar mast,
and glue the brace in it.
Glue the brace (part 343) to the underside of the radar bearer plate (part 342). Glue the forward radar
bearer plate (part 345) to the cross-piece.
Prepare the mast bar from the brass tubing supplied (part 346). TIP: the brass tubes are easier to bend
to an even curve if you insert a piece of snake inner sleeve in the area to be shaped. Drill the holes for
the bars in the cross-piece, and align the bars carefully before permanently gluing the transverse plate
(part 347) between the mast bars and the bars. Fit the two mast bar braces (part 348).
Prepare the centre mast (part 349) and glue this to the transverse plate. Glue cross-piece 1 (part 350) on
this, followed by the two lateral stanchions (part 351), cross-piece 2 (part 352), and the brace (part 353)
at the bottom. Glue the extension (part 354) in the centre mast, and attach the ring (part 355) on top.
Carefully drill a hole for the horizontal aerial (part 356). Solder the two vertical aerials (part 357) to this.
Glue the crew-finder aerial (part 358) and the aerial rods (part 359) to the extension.
The next stage is to prepare the lamp mast (part 360). Glue the lamp bearers to the mast, together with
the associated braces (part 361 to 365). The mushroom-shaped aerial (part 366) is also fitted to this
mast.
Make up the three braces (part 367 to 369), and glue or solder these to the mast.
Prepare the centre mast outrigger (part 370) and solder this to the centre mast. Solder the aerial base
(part 371) to the outrigger, and the aerial (part 372) to the aerial base. Solder the struts (part 373) in
place. Glue the ring (part 372) to the outrigger.
Make up the bar mast outriggers from parts 375 to 380 using the same procedure. TIP: form a loop
matching the size of the aerial base in the pieces of wire which form the VHF aerial strut (part 378); this
makes it much easier to solder the wire parts together.
Assemble the two aerial masts from parts 381 to 383, drill matching holes in the cross-piece, and glue
the masts in the holes.
Glue the mast lamps (part 384), the panoramic lamps (part 385) and the blue lamp (part 386) in the
appropriate positions.
Cut out the bell (part 387), push a short piece of scrap 0.5 mm Ø wire through it and glue this assembly
to the underside of the cross-piece.
Assemble the radar antennas (part 388) and glue them to the appropriate support plates.
Locate the signal horn (part 389) and sand the hemi-spherical part flat. Cut out the cover (part 390) and
glue this to the signal horn. Glue the horn to the transverse plate.
