Checking the Encryption Key
If your host bus adapter supports encryption (Adaptec Series 7He only), the encryption key is pre-installed
on the adapter board. The location of the encryption key depends on the adapter model. Refer to the
figures below for the location of the encryption key on your adapter board, then verify that the key is
installed and seated securely.

Selecting Disk Drives and Cables
Disk Drives
Your Adaptec HBA supports SAS and SATA disk drives, Solid State Drives (SSDs), Removable Media, and
SAS tape drives. For more information about compatible drives, refer to the Adaptec Web site at
www.adaptec.com/compatibility.
Cables
Depending on your HBA model and application requirements, you can use any of the cables listed below.
Adaptec Series 7H/7He adapters use mini-SAS HD cables. Adaptec Series 6H adapters use mini-SAS
cables. For more information about cabling options for your HBA, visit the Adaptec Web site at
www.adaptec.com/en-us/products/cables.
