Install the PostScript Level 2 Upgrade for computers that
must send their print jobs as PostScript files. Macintosh
computers send their print jobs as PostScript files. Windows
computers send print jobs as PostScript files if they are using
the Windows PostScript printer driver.
Installing the kit involves gaining access to the printer
Controller Board and installing a single PostScript SIMM.
To install the PostScript Level 2 SIMM:
1. Remove the printer side cover and access the printer
controller board as described on page 83.
2. Position the printer so you have access to the printer
controller board.
3. Figure (A) shows the controller board and the location of
the PostScript SIMM slot.

Locate the notch on the SIMM (B).

Install the PostScript module into the first slot

Position the SIMM into the slot so that the notch is at the
bottom (C).
6.
Snap the SIMM into position (D).
7.
Use the procedure in Step 1 as guide to replace printer
side cover, 500-sheet Cassette tray, and printer cables.

If not already done, perform the following tasks:
For computers running Windows, install a Windows
PostScript printer driver as described by Chapter 3,
"Installing the Software."
For Macintosh computers, install the LocalTalk and
Serial Interface Upgrade as described on page 88,
then configure your Macintosh as described in
Chapter 3, "Installing the Software," on page 18.
9. Confirm the installation by printing a printer
configuration page as described on page 51.
