SYSTEM _
FLEX System: F_requency Leve_ Expander
System
During
playback,
the FLEX system
automatically
com-
pensates
tapes with
poor sound
quality
at high frequency
levels of 1 kHz to 20kHz, based on the appropriate
auditory
characteristics.
The FLEX system
performs
playback
with
up to a 12dB
improvement
in 10 kHz high frequency
reproduction,
parti-
cularly
in tapes with poor clarity and sound presence at high
frequency
levels.
When
you press the FLEX button
to turn the FLEX system
on, the 1/f indicator light and start playback,
the(€_J)indi-
cator flash end compensation
adjustment
begins.
After approximately
3~8 seconds, compensation
adjustment
is completed
and the indicators
change from a flashing
to a
steadily
lit condition.
Some
music
selections
may take a
little longer than 8 seconds.
When the FLEX system is engaged,
each music selection
is
automatically
adjusted
during
playback.
System
operation
status
is indicated
by whether
the
(=_J}
indicators
are
flashing
or steadily lit.
Even when
the
FLEX system
is turned
on, during
all
recording
functions,
including
CD-DECK synchro
recording
and tape copying,
the 1/f indicator
is nullified
automatically.
After
beginning
playback,
all compensation
data is me-
morized
even if the playback
is stopped.
As a result, the
same compensation
data will be used when the playback
is
restarted.
The memorized
compensation
data
will
be
canceled,
however,
if the FLEX button
is pressed again,
if
the tape is ejected, or if recording
is begun.
NOTE:
When a tape has been recorded
at a high
frequency
level
above the compensation
level, the FLEX system
operation
is
automatically
defeated during playback.
