The advanced ProScan universal remote controls your TV
and up to two compatible Proscan VCRs or any other
brands listed on page 25. The VCR2.LO button can also
control a
compatible ProScan/RCA laserdisc player.
To control a
compatible VCR,
first press the VCR1or VCRa-LD
button to put
the remote in the "VCR mode". The buttons
shown below will then control the VCR.
Select models of VCRs have a switch that lets you determine which
VCR will be controlled by the VCR1 b utton, and which VCR by the VCR2
button. Othermodels havean on-screen menuthatlets you determine if
it will be controlled by VCR1 or VCR2. Some older VCRs have a
NORM/UNIFIED switch that can also respond to either the VCR1or VCR2
button on the remote. Place this switch in the UNIFIED position for the
VCR to respond to the VCR1button or in the NORMposition for the VCR2
button. In the NORM position, you must program the VCR2button to
respond to code number 05.
The buttons shown below do not operate all functions on all
VCRs. You may only be able to control your VCR's basic
functions.

BUTI'0N Press to turn off VCR.
PLAY BUTr0N
Press to start tape playing.
REWIND BU'I-I'0N P ress while VCR is
stopped to rewind tape. Press while
VCR is playing to search backward. In
VCR2.LD mode this button backward
scans a laserdisk.
RECORDBD'I'_N
Press to record. It is not
necessary to press
PLAY
and
RECORD.
DISPLAY R Un'ONPress to display VCR's
on-screen messages.
NUMBER B UTTONS P ress two numbers
to
select VCR channel. On some brands,
press a "0" before a single-digit channel
number.
CLEAR B UTTON i s used when setting the
VCR's clock and programming its
timer.
PROGRAM BUTTONis used when setting
clock and programming the timer.
VCR1 AND VCR2 BUTr0NS Press to
turn
on
VCR and put remote in "VCR Mode" so
other buttons will control the VCR. Press
the iv button to put remote back into "TV
Mode".
BUTTON Press while VCR is
stopped to fast forward tape. Press while
VCR is playing to search forward. In
VCR2-LD mode this button forward scans a
laserdisk.
PAUSE BU'I-rON
Press to pause PLAYor
Press again to release
BuTroN
Press to stop whatever VCR
is doing: playing, recording, rewinding,
or fast forwarding.
UP OR DOWN BuTrONS
Press to select
next higher or lower channel in VCR's
cl_?nel memory.
ANTENNA BUTr0N
Press to change
TV/VCR
