Setup Menu: Basic Functions continued
Parental Control
The PARENTAL CTRLand CHANCTRLfunctions let you lock out
any channels between 1 and 99 that you choose so they
cannot be viewed by your children.
Channels that have been locked out can be viewed only
when the PARENTAL CTRLfunction is set to OFF. This can
only be done with the remote control-it can not be changed
with the buttons on the front of the TV. Therefore, after
you turn on PARENTAL CTRL,yOU simply hide the remote
control so that your children can not watch the locked-out
channels.
The locked-out channels will remain unviewable even if
the TV is unplugged or the channels are autoprogrammed
again. The only way to view locked-out channels is to use
the remote control to set the PARENTAL CTRL function to OFF.
Activating Parental Control
with remote only
The PAREN'FAL CTRL and the
CHAN CTRL
functions work hand-
in-hand. The instructions below will first tell you how to
turn parental control on or off with the PARENTAL CTRL
function and then how to lock out desired channels with
the CHAN CTRL function.

Repeatedly press the ME.NU button to select SETUP MENUand
then press + to display the setup functions:
Repeatedly press MENUto select the PARENTAL-CTRL function.

To lock out channels, press the
MENU
button to select the CHAN
CTRL function.
Select a channel you want to lock out by pressing
CHANNEL
up
or down. Then press + or-. The CHANCTRLsetting will
change from
NORMAL
to LOCKED when that channel is locked-
out.
Repeat step 3 for each channel you want to lock out.
If the PARENTAL
CTRL
function is set to ON while you are
locking out channels, each channel will go blank as you lock
it out.
Whenthe
PARENTAL
C TRL.funclion
is set to ON and a channel
• which has been locked outis tuned, the TV Will display the
words PARENTAL CONTROL to let your children know you have
locked it out.
Pressing + or - changes this function between ON and
OFF.
• When this function is set to ON, PARENTAL CrRLis activated

and any channels you locked out with the CHANCTRL
function will not be viewable.
• When this function is set to OFF, PARENTAt: C TRLis
deactivated and all channels are viewable.
Note: You may want to lock out the same channels in both ANTENNA A
and ANTENNA B modes. This prevents someone from moving the cable
to the Am a input to watch channels locked out in theANTENNAA mode.
