10 Troubleshooting

This chapter provides troubleshooting information.

General troubleshooting

General troubleshooting information for Continuous Access Journal follows.

Error
Remote Web Console hangs, or Cnt Ac-J
operations do not function properly.
An initiator channel-enable LED indicator (on the
control window) is off or flashing.
Status of pairs and/or logical paths is not
displayed correctly.
A Cnt Ac-J error message appears on the Remote
Web Console computer.
The status of a logical path is not normal.
The pair status is suspended.

Corrective action
Make sure that the problem is not being caused by the computer or
Ethernet hardware or software, and restart the computer. Restarting
the Remote Web Console computer does not affect Cnt Ac-J
operations in progress.
Make sure that all Cnt Ac-J requirements and restrictions are met.
Make sure that the primary and secondary systems and remote copy
connections are powered on, and that NVS and cache are fully
operational.
Check all the entered values and parameters to make sure that you
entered the correct information on the Remote Web Console computer
(for example, secondary system S/N, path parameters, P-VOL and
S-VOL IDs).
If you are using Performance Monitor, refrain from using it.
Please call HP Technical Support for assistance.
Make sure that the correct CU image is selected.
Check whether you selected correct items or options in Cnt Ac-J
windows, such as the DKC Operation window, the Pair Operation
window, and the Display Filter dialog box.
Remove the error cause, and then retry the Cnt Ac-J operation.
Check the path status in the DKC Status dialog box, and see
"Troubleshooting logical paths " (page
