Transferring business tasks from the Continuous Access Journal secondary to the primary
Site
If you follow the instructions in the previous section and then remove failures from the primary site
and the Continuous Access Synchronous secondary site, you can transfer your business tasks back
to the primary site.
To transfer your business tasks back to the primary site, follow the procedure below. RAID Manager
(RAID Manager) is used in this procedure:
1.
Use RAID Manager to release the Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
2.
If the Continuous Access Journal pair has not been resynchronized to reverse the primary
volume and the secondary volume and is suspended, use RAID Manager to resynchronize the
pair to reverse the primary and secondary volumes.
The S-VOL in the former Continuous Access Journal secondary site changes to the P-VOL. The
P-VOL in the former primary site changes to the S-VOL.
3.
Stop business tasks at the Continuous Access Journal secondary site.
4.
Use RAID Manager to execute the horctakeover command on the Continuous Access Journal
pair.
The Continuous Access Journal primary and secondary volumes are reversed.
5.
Use the primary volume in the primary site to resume business tasks.
6.
Use RAID Manager to resynchronize the Continuous Access Synchronous pair.
The system configuration changes to the original 3DC multitarget configuration.

Recovery in a 2DC configuration

If disaster or failure occurs at the primary site in a 2DC configuration that is configured Continuous
Access Journal and Continuous Access Synchronous using the registered journal by setting 2DC
Cascade to Enable in the Edit Journal Volumes dialog box, you can continue business operations
using the Continuous Access Journal S-VOL at the remote site.
To transfer the business operations to the remote site
1.
In the remote site, confirm the consistency of the Continuous Access Journal S-VOL.
2.
In the remote site, execute the Pairsplit-S command to release the Continuous Access Journal
pair.
3.
Confirm that the Continuous Access Journal S-VOL has changed to SMPL status.
4.
Resume business operations using the Continuous Access Journal S-VOL on the remote site.
Please be aware of the following:
Unlike the 3DC cascading configuration, the 2DC configuration does not allow you to continue
your business operations on the intermediate site.
If the intermediate site is not connected to the host, use the remote command device for
Continuous Access Journal and Continuous Access Synchronous pair operations.

Resume operations in the primary site

When the primary site is restored, use RAID Manager and the following procedure to resume
business operations at the primary site and to create a 3DC Cascade solution.
1.
On the primary site, if Continuous Access Synchronous pairs exist, release them.
2.
On the remote Continuous Access Journal site, create a Continuous Access Journal pair.
Specify the disaster recovery production volume on the remote site as the P-VOL and a primary
site volume as the S-VOL. Follow all requirements for creating a Continuous Access Journal
pair.
