• Disengage all clutchesandshiftintoneutral b efore
startingengine.
• Donotoperateequipment w ithoutwearingad-
equate winteroutergarments.
• Wearsubstantial footwearwhichwill protectfeet
andimprove footingon slipperysurfaces.
• Checkfuelbeforestartingthe engine.Donot
remove the fuelcapor fill the fueltankwhilethe
engineis runningor hot.Donotfill thefueltank
indoors. G asolineis an extremely flammable fuel.
• Makesurethe snowthrowerheightis adjustedto
clearthe typesurfaceit will beusedon.
• Donot usethe snowthrowerwithoutthe rear
weightattached to thetractor.
• Nevermakeanyadjustments w hilethe engineis
running.
• Alwayswearsafetyglasses or eyeshieldduring
operation or whileperforming andadjustment or
repair.
• Donot placehandor feetnearrotatingparts.Keep
clearof the discharge opening at all times.
• Useextremecaution whenoperating on or crossing
gravel s urfaces.
• Donotcarrypassengers.
• Afterstrikinga foreignobject,stopthe engine,
remove the wirefromthe sparkplugandthen
thoroughly inspectthe snowthrower f or damage.
Repairanydamagebeforerestarting andoperating
the snowthrower.
• If the snowthrowerstartsto vibrateabnormally,
stopthe engineimmediately a ndcheckforthe
cause.Vibration is generally a warningoftrouble.
• Stopthe enginewhenever y ouleavethe operating
position, b eforeunclogging the snowthroweror
making anyadjustments or inspections.
• Takeall possible precautions w henleavingthe unit
unattended. Disengage the attachment clutchlever
or switch,lowerthe snowthrower, s hiftintoneutral,
setthe parkingbrake,stoptheengineandremove
the key.
• Whencleaning, r epairing or inspecting, m ake
certainallmovingpartshavestopped. D isconnect
thesparkplugwireandkeepit awayfromthe plug
to preventaccidental starting.
• Donot runengineindoorsexcept w hentransport-
ingthe snowthrowerin or out ofthe building. O pen
theoutsidedoors.Exhaust f umesaredangerous.
• Donot clearsnowacrossthe faceof slopes.
