Cautions in using the Extension Control Unit

Please be cautious about the followings when you are using an extension control unit (AG-EC4G)
connected to the camera recorder.
When you operate AG-EC4G
• To use the IRIS knob on the AG-EC4G, select AUTO IRIS on the IRIS button of the camera recorder.
• The DRS function of the camera recorder and the OUTPUT/AUTO KNEE selection switch of AG-EC4G
are related as described below.
When the DRS function is ON, the DRS function operates regardless of the position of the OUTPUT/
AUTO KNEE selection switch.
When the DRS function is OFF, the camera recorder enters the AUTO KNEE operation if the OUTPUT/
AUTO KNEE selection switch is set to CAM.AUTO KNEE ON, while it operates according to the
operation set in KNEE item (Page 134) on MENU if the selection switch is set to CAM.AUTO KNEE OFF.
• The ND FILTER indicator of AG-EC4G indicates as 1 for OFF of the camera recorder, 2 for 1/4, 3 for
1/16, and 4 for 1/64.
• If the IRIS of camera recorder indicates F8.5, it is indicated as F8.6 on the AG-EC4G.
• SET and the pause action on the Operation lever of the camera recorder are not available on AG-EC4G.
Operations of camera recorder
• Shutter speed setting cannot be done on the camera recorder.
If you have pressed the DIAL SEL button, the functions of the SHTR/F.RATE dial will change in order as follows:
FRAME RATE LOCK
• The GAIN and WHITE BAL switches and MENU, BARS, USER MAIN, USER1, and USER2 buttons on
the camera recorder are not available. However, the USER2 button on the AG-EC4G is used only to
switch between CAMERA mode and PB/THUMBNAIL mode.
• Wireless remote control cannot be used.
• VIDEO OUT CHAR item (Page 145) on MENU is disabled and the camera recorder operates according to
the setting of the extension control unit.
Cautions in connecting the system
• Be sure to turn off the power of the camera recorder and AG-EC4G when connecting and disconnecting
the supplied cable.
• When you turn on the power, turn on the camera recorder first and then the AG-EC4G. Also, when you
turn off the power, turn off the AG-EC4G first and then the camera recorder.
• Once you turned off the power of AG-EC4G, wait for at least 1 second before turning on the power again.
• Do not use cables other than the AG-EC4G supplied cable or specified optional cable. Otherwise, it
would cause damage to the camera recorder or AG-EC4G.
• The VIDEO OUT terminal and the REMOTE terminal of the camera recorder output the same video
signals, but if both of the terminals are connected to cables at the same time, it doesn't guarantee the
performance of video output.
• If the CAM REMOTE jack is connected to a remote control and the REMOTE terminal is connected to an
AG-EC4G at the same time, the IRIS operations can be done using both controls. It can be done through
the IRIS knob of the AG-EC4G when AUTO IRIS is selected on the IRIS button of the camera recorder,
and can be done through the IRIS knob of the remote control connected to the CAM REMOTE jack when
MANUAL IRIS is selected on the button.
• AJ-RC10G cannot be used.
