4. Switch on power to the server. If the server module is fresh from
the factory, skip to step 5 now. But if you have used this server
module previously, you should prevent it from completing the
initialization with the old configuration so that you can give it the
new IP address, etc. Do the following to reset it.
a. During initialization the control panel displays the following
countdown from 10 to 0 seconds for entering setup mode.
b. Press

Again disconnect power and open the enclosure (page 11-25).
Push the red password reset button on the back of the server
module so that it stays in the "out" position. This allows
passwords to be set later. Close the enclosure (page 11-27) and
switch on power to the server.
5. Follow the initialization process starting at step 4 on page 2-8, as
if installing a server for the first time.
When you reach the Installation Wizard (step 12 on
page 2-13), your action depends on whether you have your
server configuration files on a backup—the c/system/ or
c/system/config/ directory.
•
If the configuration files are backed up, you need not
configure anything here. Instead, click "Go straight to
HD Server Admin".
•
If the configuration files are not available for restoring,
then use the Installation Wizard and HD Server Admin
to reconfigure your networking parameters and security
model. Do not configure shares, users and groups, and
backup schedules yet.
6. Use HD Server Admin (on a workstation on the network; see
page 4-3 to 4-4). Go to the Configuration
on the [Create Volume] button. By default, all disk drives are
selected. If you want to exclude any of the disk drives from the
volume, deselect each one. If you have more than three selected,
you are given the option of using one as the hot spare. Perform the
requested confirmations.
