12 Resolving Problems with Your Server
1. Remove and reinstall all hard disk drive modules. Use the
procedure "Replace Disk Drive Module" on page 11-23.
2. If the failure reoccurs, then replace the affected drive with
another hard disk drive module.
3. If the failure reoccurs, then replace the enclosure and try again.
For replacement, call HP support per appendix A, "Getting
Support".
Before you restart the server, check the following:
Verify that the fan for the enclosure and the fans for the power
supplies are operating.
Verify that all slots without disk drive modules are covered
with filler panels. If one cannot be found, order part:
Hot-swap drive module slot cover 5063-8391
Make sure that the enclosure side door is closed.
Make sure that the rear air vents are at least six inches from
any obstructions.
Make sure that the ambient temperature does not exceed the
range specified in "Operating Temperature" on page C-2.
If all the above appear normal, then restart the server and
verify that the Drive power light briefly flashes red. If it does
not, the enclosure is faulty. Call HP support per appendix A,
"Getting Support".
The two types of optional passwords are the control panel password
(see page 3-3 and page 2-11) and the web user interface
administrator password (page 4-5). If either of the the passwords is
set and then forgotten, you can do the following procedure, which
removes both of them.
1. Do the procedure "Open the Enclosure" on page 11-25.
2. Push the red password reset button on the back of the server
module so that it stays in the "in" position. The button is labeled
in the illustration below step 4 on page 11-32.
3. Do the procedure "Close the Enclosure and Start Up" on
page 11-27. The passwords are removed. Also, no password set
while the button is in the "in" position will remain set.
4. Again do the procedure "Open the Enclosure" on page 11-25.
